Competitions

Yes, we also have competitions. Most competitions are combined, but to keep it fair, the type and filesize of every entry will be announced before it is shown. We believe that our visitors should be able to rate a C64 4k intro differently than a 20mb PC demo. Of course, if there are enough entries in one category for treating it as a seperate compo, we will do so.

Note that unlike other parties we will be powered with a CRT beamer, too - that is, supporting any high- or low-res resolution a high-quality CRT monitor can handle. It is recommended that you use a standard resolution or offer multiple ones where possible anyway - adjusting the settings of some special video mode might be a PITA anyway.

ANSI/ASCII

Multipage (scrolling) entries allowed, no blink text or similar. Entries will be shown using Acidview. Please specify font/charset. This Compo is open for Mailentries! Mail your entry to topy@geekcamp.net until the 4th (Wednesday) 22:00 to contribute without visiting the party. Dont forget to include your postal adress in case you win a prize!

Demo / Intro

We will provide a reasonable compo-pc, but as we are not sure about its specs yet its better to bring a machine yourself, just to be sure. We will not provide systems for other platforms, please supply videos of your release where possible, or bring the system to the party otherways. Running time: As long as you want (if the entry sucks, the mountain zombies will kill you or your entry anyway)

Combined Music

All music, tracked or streaming, will be played in the same competition. The file format aswell as the file size and channel number (for tracked entries) will be announced for every release. MOD/XM/IT files will be played with ModPlug, Renoise/Buzz files with Renoise/Buzz, any other formats should be submited as ogg/mp3.

Wild demo

The usual wild compo. Rendered animations, stupid videos, whatever. Please provide a high quality video for the compo, you can provide a smaller file for releasing to the party FTP if you wish. This is only for animations, please release alternative-platform demos in the combined democompo instead.

Graphics

Combined graphics competition, everything is allowed, but please provide some worksteps aswell as a list of used software/tools. That information will be announced during the compo.

Photography

One of our most popular competitions: Every kind of photo is allowed, but there should be some artistic aspect to it. Minor editing as cropping and color correction is allowed, but please dont artificialy add anything to the image. Please include the unedited file directly from your camera as workstep.

Surprise and fun compos

There will be multiple fun competitions of various sorts like themed fast competition, special graphics, handcrafted stuff, retrogaming... surprise, surprise!
