Getting there...

...by train and bus
See the SBB or Deutsche Bahn pages to find a train to:
"Flüelen, Eggberge Talstation"
or
"Flüelen" (about 5-10 minutes walk to "Eggberge Talstation", or use the bus)
Hint: Watch out for special international tickets, e.g. "Deutsche Bahn" offers an "Europa-Spezial Schweiz" which costs between 14,- and 39,- EUR for a single trip depending on the place of departure and Bahn Card discount.

...by plane
The nearest airport is Zürich-Kloten, where you can fly to for example with the cheapo-airlines Germanwings and Air Berlin. From there there you should come by train, just search from "Zürich Flughafen" to "Flüelen, Eggberge Talsation" on the sites mentioned above.

London-Stansted - Basel and return: GBP 33,33 (incl. tax and rates)

The cablecar Flüelen-Eggberge
When you arrive at the base station of the cablecar, tell the people at the station that you are a GeekCamp visitor. They will let you ride for free as a return-trip Flüelen-Eggberge is included in the ticket price.
If you need to go down to Flüelen again during the party, you may buy tickets from the organizers at a reduced price, just contact us at the party.
The cablecar leaves from Flüelen every 30 minutes between 7:30 and 19:00 as noted on their website. If you plan to arrive later then 19:00 and you come with at least 8 people you can mail us at least 7 days before and we can try to organize an extra tour. If you miss the last cablecar or have any other problems, please call us (see the checklist).

Switzerland/GeekCamp checklist
- Store Topy44s mobile number (+49 176 75088568) so that you can contact us in case you get lost or cannot arrive in time.
Dont forget to check with your phone company if your mobile phone works in Switzerland before leaving. - There is no supermarket up on the mountain! So if you want to go shopping during the party, it requires buying a cablecar ticket. Note that we therefore already have food and drinks (both alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic) available as described in the info section.
- The main hall will provide you with "Schuko" connectors as used in Germany, Austria and many other countrys. Other wall outlets, in your room for example, require either swiss three-pin plugs, euro plugs or a swiss-to-Schuko adapter.
- The house has several rooms and sleeping areas with beds, but donīt forget to bring your own sleeping bags / pillows / sheets / towels / special toys / whatever else you need with you.
- To pass the swiss border, you will need a passport or personal identity card (Personalausweis). If you are not an EU resident we recommend to contact your local swiss consulate for checking if you might need a visitor visa. We can provide you with an official invitation as required by some countrys to recieve the visa (for example Russia), please contact us by mail as early as possible.
- As Switzerland is not part of the EU, the local currency is Swiss Francs (CHF), 1 EUR being worth approximately 1.5 CHF. It would be a good idea to change some money in advance. At GeekCamp, we will accept both Euros and Swiss Francs for all payments.
- Motorways in Switzerland require buying a vignette (available at the swiss border or any gas station) for 40CHF or 30 Euros, which is valid until January 2010. Getting them from ADAC in advance might save some bucks, though. You might also try to avoid the motorway instead, check your favorite map for that.
- In switzerland motorways are marked green and normal roads blue, different than in Germany where this is the other way round.
- Strong alcoholic drinks as vodka or gin are very expensive in Switzerland, and customs regulations are rather restrictive (1 litre with more than 15%, 2 litres with less then 15% alcohol, a maximum of 200 cigarettes; more has to be declared and paid).
Since we offer drinks for fair prices at the partyplace, thereīs no need to import them yourself anyway. - Many people think cannabis is legal in Switzerland, but it is NOT! So please dont blame us if some cops decide that you look suspicious and confiscate your drugs. :)
